Terms & Conditions

Draft — review before real-world launch. This document is a good-faith working draft written to describe how Billune actually operates. It is not a substitute for legal advice. Before you rely on it in production, please have it reviewed by counsel qualified in your jurisdiction.

Welcome to Billune. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Billune web application, APIs, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Billune is a software-as-a-service tool that lets freelancers, studios, and small businesses create, send, and track invoices, and optionally use AI features to generate logos and template styles. Some features are available only on paid plans.

2. Your Account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Billune.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it updated.
  • You may close your account at any time from Settings; closure ends your access to paid features.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Issue fraudulent invoices or facilitate any illegal transaction.
  • Send spam, malware, phishing content, or otherwise abuse recipients of invoices you send through the platform.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data.
  • Resell the Service or use it as a white-label without an active Agency plan (or explicit written permission).

4. Subscriptions & Billing

Paid plans (Pro, Premium, Agency) are billed on a recurring monthly basis via Stripe. By subscribing you authorize Billune and Stripe to charge the payment method you provide, at the beginning of each billing period, until you cancel. Prices are shown on the Billing page and may be updated with at least 30 days' notice before the next renewal.

Cancellations, refunds, and credit-usage rules are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. AI-Generated Content (Logos, Templates)

Billune's AI Studio uses third-party models (currently Google Gemini for image generation and Anthropic Claude for template style generation). You provide the prompts; the models return generated content.

  • Ownership: As between you and Billune, you own the AI-generated logos and template palettes that you generate for your account, and may use them commercially. You are responsible for any third-party rights in the content you upload (for example, brand names in your prompts).
  • No exclusivity: AI models can produce similar outputs for other users given similar prompts. We do not guarantee uniqueness. If you need a fully-owned, exclusive mark, please have a designer or trademark counsel review the output.
  • Credit usage: Each generation consumes AI credits from your monthly quota. Unused credits do not roll over.
  • Model changes: We may swap AI providers or models to improve quality or reduce cost; the feature contract (logo generation, template generation) remains, but output style may shift.

6. Content You Upload

You retain ownership of your invoices, client data, uploaded logos, and other content ("Your Content"). You grant Billune a limited license to store, transmit, and display Your Content strictly as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing an invoice to a client via a payment link, or emailing a reminder on your behalf).

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third parties including Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude (AI). Your use of those integrated features is also subject to those providers' terms. Stripe collects and processes payment card data directly — Billune does not store card numbers on its servers.

8. Availability & Support

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may schedule maintenance or roll out fixes at any time. Support is provided by email to paid customers; free-tier support is best-effort via the in-app Help & Guide.

9. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, particularly for fraud, abuse, or chargebacks. On termination, you may export your invoices for a 30-day window; after that we may permanently delete your data.

10. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Billune's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the fees you paid to Billune in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Billune is a tool. It is not a substitute for professional accounting, tax, or legal advice. You are responsible for the accuracy, tax treatment, and legality of the invoices you issue.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
